I never saw myself as a landscape painter. I had the usual classical art education-anatomy ,life drawing, sculpture,history of art, history of architecture.
My first love is the ballet and the theatre. I worked as artist in residence for theatres and a few national trust properties.
I developed a swift method of working to capture movement and atmosphere necessary for such ...working on paper.
Since I started painting landscapes I've found the same excitement I had with movement in the changing light and atmosphere .
I'm in love with colour and texture.
What inspires me...
Everybody who paints needs to develop and change. One cannot reproduce exactly the same stuff...it becomes meaningless

After several sad winters in England and the desperate lack of light my thoughts turned to seeking a studio in the sun.
Why I paint..
'Every painting starts with excitement and trepidation... The selection and anxiety of capturing the essence of the subject is both terrifying and delightful. Then one loses one's self in the painting...
